MICHELLE OBAMA

Neither of Michelle Obama’s parents went to college but she was inspired to go to Princeton after her brother was accepted. Michelle’s high school teachers told her not to set her sights too high, but that did not stop her..

The adjustment to college life at Princeton wasn’t easy - a white parent even tried (unsuccessfully) to get her daughter removed from Michelle’s dorm. Michelle said she felt “"like a visitor on campus.”"I remember being shocked," she says, "by college students who drove BMWs. I didn't even know parents who drove BMWs."

Michelle majored in sociology with a minor in African-American studies, and graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton and went on to get her J.D. from Harvard Law School. At Harvard she demonstrated in support of hiring professors who were minorities and worked assisting low-income tenants through the Legal Aid Bureau.

She has worked as an associate at a Chicago law firm, held public sector positions in Chicago’s city government and served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago, and executive director for community affairs at its hospital making almost twice as much as her husband, a senator at the time.

When her husband wanted to run for president, she made a deal that involved him quitting smoking and, though she was used to being a private person, prepared for a life in the spotlight. She used her platform as an opportunity to discuss race and education. She wrote her own speeches and generally never referred to her notes.

In her speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, Michelle Obama stated that she and her husband believe “that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, and you do what you say you're going to do, that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them, and even if you don't agree with them.”

During her husband’s time in office, Michelle focused on promoting good eating habits and exercise, especially among children, founding an initiative she called “Let’s Move!’ to help tackle childhood obesity. She has vocally supported LGBT rights, same-sex marriage and included openly gay service members in her national military families initiative.

She has been targeted by right-wing media from the moment she entered the spotlight. She has been labeled an “Angry Black Woman” and when she and her husband shared a SUPER CUTE celebratory fist-bump, a Fox News anchor referred to it as a “terrorist fist-jab.” She gave an iconic speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, addressing the distressing state of rhetoric in the country. She spoke about raising her daughters, and about “How we urge them to ignore those who question their father’s citizenship or faith. How we insist that this hateful language they hear form public figures on TV does not represent the true spirit of this country. How we explain that when someone is cruel or acts like a bully you don’t stoop to their level. No, our moto is: when they go low, we go high.”

CLEARLY Michelle Obama is a BOSS ASS BITCH
