MADELINE ALBRIGHT

MadeleineAlbright

Madeleine was the first female Sectary of State under Bill Clinton. Immediately before becoming Secretary of State, she was an ambassador to the United Nations. During her tenure at the UN, she has a rough and rocky relationship wit the Ambassador General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, whom she criticized for being disengaged or involved enough in stopping the Rwandan Genocide.

"My deepest regret from my years in public service is the failure of the United States and the international community to act sooner to halt these crimes."

Most recently, Madeline was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama, and serves as a director on the board of the Council on Foreign Relations.
